    Concept 2024

    Enlightening Terra Cosmos

Dream with Light Trend, M&O's official lighting-trend exhibition for 12 years by famous Franco-Japanese light-designers Akari-Lisa Ishii and Motoko Ishii.

It is a luminous sensory journey, with state-of-the-art artistic installations, each time reinvented.

Sit on DreamingTerra - where we imagine a dream planet.

And contemplate DreamingCosmos - where we dream of the universe with artistic lighting installations, between luminous reflection and stellar poetry.

    Enlightening Terra Cosmos

In correlation with the global theme of Maison & Objet Paris Sep. 2024 «Terra Cosmos», its official exhibition on lighting LIGHT TREND illuminates our dreams.

Let’s dream of rediscovering our beautiful earth.

Let’s dream of traveling through the cosmos.

Let’s dream of lights on earth and in the cosmos.

The world of lighting design is evolving at the speed of light. Methods, new technologies, expressions... everything is developing in favor of our lives, our environments, our living spaces.

For the past 11 years, LIGHT TREND has been connecting you to the latest trends and sharing tips of lighting designers Motoko Ishii & Akari-Lisa Ishii, the Franco-Japanese duo, mother and daughter.

Welcome back to LIGHT TREND to discover artistic lighting installations, original creations and new products illuminating “Dreaming Cosmos“ and “Dreaming Terra“.

    Dreaming Terra

In this section, we dream of the earth from the cosmos. An earth that is beautiful, soothing,

harmonious and shared by all who live here.

For sweet dreams, a projection of image and light on a bed is named “Métamo-room ver.3“ installation. This ingenious method transforms a room (in a hotel, at home...) in a surprising, eco-

friendly and customizable way. An original soundtrack composed by I.C.O.N. Music Label (IML)

    enhances the effect.

This living space also features a multi-functional “SW“ (by Okamura) with a variable height system, in a special version according to the theme. Ergonomic “Pirouette“ (by Okamura) stools simulate the floating sensation of space travel. The bespoke “Kicho“ partition (by Okamura, F-wave & Nabell) is fitted with traditional Japanese accordion leaves and flexible solar sheet. It not only separats the space, but also charges a portable battery “OC“ (by Okamura).

The “Mini Clan“ table lamp (by iGuzzini) adds a trend tip of the 60s and 70s design revival with its round cosmic shape.

In the background, a mobile “Mindfulness booth“ (by Okamura) bathed in colored light transports you to another univers. Its “balance ball“ offers a perfect posture for meditation. In a nod to the theme, all the colors and shapes of the furniture are inspired by it.

    Dreaming Cosmos

In this section, we dream of the cosmos through multiple artistic and fantastic lighting effects. The entire space is a light art installation.

To enter this universe, we pass through a series of Japanese washi paper veils specially designed and made for this exhibition (by Sugihara Washipaper). They present 5 different cosmic  motifs, inlaid into the thickness. You can appreciate the natural texture and high-quality craftsmanship, highlighted by their illumination.

Once inside, one feels almost floating, in a space filled with varied and changing celestial lights - galactic, starry sky, cosmic - that envelop visitors with their crystalline, unearthly sparkles (by Stanley Electric, iGuzzini etc.). The lights are created using stage lighting techniques that are sometimes quite simple (high-tech is not always necessary). These are purely lighting know-how that transport visitors into another dimension.

This contemplative art installation is illustrated by cosmic music composed especially for it (by IML)

and be appeciated sitting on various sizes of “Lives pouf“ (by Okamura).

In the middle of the front wall, in the sky, floats the large symbolic “Sign Diva“ sun (by Prolicht).

The two “Yume“ (by KKDC) add almost magical halos to the atmosphere.

Several “Luna bulb“ luminaires suspended like planets, bring light to the stand’s reception area, lit by “Pure“ spots (by Neko Space). The flexible solar sheet is also on display(by F-wave). And to round things off in style, “LED flash“ shooting stars run across the roof of the stand(by Stanley Electric).
